DENTAL VISITS

FIRST-TIME VISITS

PLEASE REMAIN in the reception room while we care for your child. This gives us an opportunity to establish a close rapport with your child and gain confidence quickly. If we feel it is necessary, we will get you. At the completion of your child's visit, an assistant will bring you back to rejoin your child in the operatory.

HOWEVER, we normally have the parent back with children under the age of two. During your child's visit, you may expect him/her to receive the following services:

Instruction on proper oral hygiene
Cleaning and polishing the teeth
Examining for decay and developmental deformities
Topical fluoride treatment dependent upon the child's tolerance level
Where necessary, X-rays

If you have any questions about what our services include, please ask someone on our staff. A "successful" visit may not necessarily include "polishing" the teeth.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT TO THE DENTIST

GOOD DENTAL care is an important part of your child's overall health. Here are some tips to help prepare your child for his/her first visit.

Emphasize the positive aspects of good dental care. Tell your child that visiting the dentist will help keep his smile bright and cavity free.
Expect your child to have a pleasant experience. Choose non-threatening language to prepare your child for a pleasant visit. For example, say that Dr.
McNutt is going to count their teeth and see how clean they are.
Complete the health form and mail it to our office prior to your child's appointment. This will save time and make your visit go more smoothly.
